Do you lower the temperature when freeze drying leaves and flowers? My understanding is that some plants lose medicinal value if heated over 100 degrees, and my freeze dryer tends to hit 125-130 during drying. Have you found that to be an issue? Would really appreciate your viewpoint.

Hi! Quick tip, catnip and catmint are not the same. :) they are similar plants, and they are both in the mint family.. though they are not the same. very common misconception! Your seedlings are catnip (Nepeta cataria) and catmint is Nepeta faassenii or Nepeta mussinii depending on the variety as they do hybridize.

I have a question for the channel and beautiful community here. If you could only have 6 or 7 herbal medicines in your personal apothecary, which ones would you choose and what form (tincture, decoction, etc.)? Thanks in advance to any who share their favorites!🙏

I’m not sure if you’ve done any videos where you’ve touched on arrowleaf sida but I’d love a video or part of a video on this plant; it’s growing everywhere on our property this year but I don’t see as many people talking about it despite its apparent medicinal benefits! I just wanted to see how you would use it etc etc

Another mood elevator is lavender …I made lavender tea way too strong once. I’m not sure you should let it steep until it’s brown then drink a 20 ounce glass with ice. 😂 I was so relaxed that I could not multitask. I am a multitasker but that day my mood became so unbothered and relaxed. My mind was so clear that I was only able to think about one task at a time. I was doing graphic design that day. I thought I was doing a great job and maybe I was. But I do know I wanted to multitask my steps but couldn’t and was actually happy about it. Lavender tea is excellent for a quitting racing mind.

We have something that I always thought was jewelweed, growing down by our barn, which does tend to be damp, but not like a creek. Now I’m gonna get a Peterson’s Guide. I had SO many, for different things, when I was homeschooling my sons, who are now well into adulthood now. They are fantastic. I am thinking of making the tincture and putting it into little rollerball bottles that we can all slip into our pockets. Hope this isn’t a dumb question that everyone already knows the answer to except me, but - could you take the very bottom, muddy portion of the rootball and replant it? Do you think it would come back? Thank you. This is my first time finding you, and I’m definitely a new fan. I love everything about this video!

I just finished making Plantain Salve. So easy. I used some on a chronic itchy rash with sores on my shoulder and the itch was gone immediately and after 2 days the sores are nearly gone also. I marinated fresh torn and dry to the touch leaves in olive oil for 3 weeks in a jar on a sunny warm window ledge. The jar was lidded and the oil did not go rancid. I will cover with cheese cloth next batch. I used a mix of both broad and narrow leaf plantain. I also have a ½ gallon jar of mullein tincture marinating in a dark corner of my pantry too. It'll be ready to process in a few more weeks. Mullein offers great benefits for the lungs!

These grow all over the south that I know of. Some have a much deeper pink. I’ve read they are originally from Japan. We have several, in South Alabama.
